Surveying the Dr. Luke Moment: A Critical Look At Lazers, Glitter, and the Un-Sexing of America's Pop Stars →
Here is a long recounting of the rise and continued rise of Lukasz Gottwald aka Dr. Luke, the most important pop music producer in the world. This was fun because Luke’s transition out of underground rap and bad classic rock and into the warm embrace of pop music is not unlike my own.
As a bonus (!) here is a short mixtape compiling Luke’s rap production history.
In the Lab With Luke: Remixes, Rawkus and Rivers Cuomo
1. Black Star: “Respiration (Dr. Luke Remix)”
2. Nappy Roots: “These Walls”
3. Arrested Development: “Esmerelda”
4. Mos Def: “All My People (The Body Rock Party Break Remixed by Dr. Luke)”
5. A. Skillz & Krafty Kuts: “Come Alive”
6. B Rich: “Nightmares”
7. Ebony Eyez: “Real Life”
8. Lady Sovereign: “Love Me Or Hate Me (Fuck You!!!)”
9. Lil Mama: “G-Slide (Tour Bus)”
10. Flor Rida: Touch Me”
11. Jibbs: “Firr Az That Thang”
12.Pitbull: “Girls”
13. B.o.B feat. Rivers Cuomo: “Magic”
